Obituary of A. Virginia Crossman

A. Virginia Crossman, 90, of Stuart, passed away May 23, 2009 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart. She was born March 23, 1919 in Homestead, FL. She had been a resident of Stuart for 5years, having moved from Plantation where she had lived since 1957, and lived in Pahokee previous to that.

She graduated from the University of Miami with a nursing degree. She had worked in Jackson Memorial in Miami, where she met Earl Crossman. They were married in 1941. Earl and Virginia were pioneers in farming on the East Coast in Broward and Palm Beach counties. In addition to farming, they were breeders of quarter horses.

She was a member of the Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

She is survived by her sons, Earl Crossman of Port St. Lucie, Clifton L. Crossman of Fort White, and Larry G. Crossman of Okeechobee; daughter, Ginger Lee Gough of Wauchula; sister, Johanna Tillis of Antioch, TN; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl R. Crossman Sr in 2002; brothers, Sam McKinstry Jr. and Billy McKinstry; sister, June Rogers and grandson, Ricardo Crossman.

A graveside service will be 11:00AM, Friday, at Port Mayaca Cemetery in Canal Point.
