Adele Ann Ritzel Barker, age 77, passed peacefully into Heaven at her home in Stuart, Florida on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 with her devoted husband Roger E. Barker by her side. Adele was preceded in death by her parents Mary Miller Ritzel and Peter A. Ritzel, Sr. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brothers Peter A. Ritzel, Jr (Geraldine) of Odenton, MD and David A. Ritzel, Sr. (Dolly) of Tallahassee, FL. Her dear friend Jane Allen has constantly been by her side during her battle with Alzheimer's. She is also survived by her nephews Stephen J. Ritzel (Jackie) Glen Burnie, MD and David A. Ritzel, Jr (Stephfanie) and her niece Denise Ritzel (Cory) Capps of Tallahassee, FL. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.

Adele was born on September 26,1946 in Baltimore, MD. She attended Catholic schools in Baltimore City and Baltimore County where she lived in Bowleys Quarters as a teenager. She graduated from Towson State College in 1968. Adele and Roger moved to W. Palm Beach in 1979 then to Tallahassee and finally settled in Stuart, FL in 1999 where her parents lived across the street from them. Adele was her parents' caretaker for many years before they passed.

Adele's career included working at Montgomery Wards during college where she met her future husband Roger. She retired from the State of Florida in 2014 as a financial analyst.

She enjoyed going on cruises with her husband, working in her yard and reading the newspaper every day. Adele was a faithful member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, FL. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
