Aileen Mae Desrosier,84, of Palm City, Fl, passed away at home on April 22,2021 with her family at her side. Born September 17, 1936 in Athol, Massachusetts, Aileen was the 6 th child of Howard & Bertha ( Stoddard) Blanchard.
She was the valedictorian of the class of 1954 at Athol High School & maintained her circle of friendships from that time throughout her life. She married Francis L Desrosier shortly after graduation and began her long life with him in Brooklyn NY, then on to Purdue University, where they started their family while living in married student housing. They eventually settled back in Massachusetts, then moved to Laurel Md where the family -5 strong- lived for more than 25 happy years. Aileen was an engaged & loving mother in the home for her children and a gracious, energetic neighbor and friend. Her passion was spending time at the beach or at her dining room table or at her family's camp with friends and relatives.
She worked as an Administrative Assistant for her entire career in various settings and found satisfaction in detailed work & the relationships she had while working; she retired from the University of Maryland, Dept of Astronomy in 1996. Frank & Aileen then moved into the house they had designed & built themselves on the Delaware shore. They reveled in beach life there for several years, entertaining old friends and making new ones before moving again to Florida to experience the beautiful weather, beaches & waterways of the Treasure Coast, living close to their son, Mark & his family.
Aileen is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Francis L Desrosier, her devoted daughter Chris Ann Sullivan and her husband, Michael J of Georgetown MA, her devoted son Paul Desrosier & his wife Mariella of Frederick MD ; 5 adoring grandchildren: Stephanie Graziani, Jeffrey Sullivan, Sean-Paul Desrosier, Jillian Howser Desrosier, Steven Desrosier, 3 great- grandchildren & many loving nieces, nephews, and friends across the country.
Aileen was predeceased by her son, Mark F. Desrosier and his wife, Judy Howser and all her siblings.
A celebration of life reception will be held for Aileen at Forest Hills Palm City Chapel, 2001 SW Murphy Rd, Palm City FL 34990 on Wednesday, April 28,2021 from 2 – 4:00 pm
In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in Aileen's name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Society : < www.info-komen.org > and to Treasure Coast Hospice in Martin County.
