Alan Clark Standish (Al), 76, of Palm City, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father, U.S. Army Major Albert Standish; his mother, Margaret (Rabitzer); his step-father, Robert Peters; and his son, Jeremy. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maureen (Carr); two sons, Jonathan (wife Neina) and Aaron (wife Alicia); and five grandchildren, whom he adored more than anything: Anabelle, Nicholas, Nathan, Eloise, and Josephine. He was affectionately known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

Al was born in Princeton, NJ, while his father served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at Princeton University, and soon moved to Columbus, OH, where he spent his entire youth and young adulthood. He met his future wife, Maureen, while in college on spring break in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. After their marriage, they settled in Elkhart, IN, where they raised their family and Al worked for Sears for 34 years before retiring. In 2004, Al and Maureen relocated to Palm City, FL, where they resided since.

Al was a 1970 graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, and a 1966 graduate of Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, OH. His greatest happiness was spending time with his family, who were his pride and joy. Al also had a passion for golf, reading, and playing or watching sports.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Forest Hills Funeral Home - Palm City Chapel in Palm City, FL. Family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m.to 12:00 p.m., with the service beginning at noon. A lunch reception to celebrate Al's, Dad's, Poppy's life will follow immediately after the service.
