Obituary of Albert Saffold
Albert Norman Saffold, 98, of Port St. Lucie, FL, died April 13, 2014 at the Martin Medical Center, Stuart, FL. He was born in Desloge, MO he had been a resident of Port St. Lucie for over 25 years coming from Melvin, MI.
Before retiring he had been a police officer with the Detroit Police Department for 25 years, retiring as a lieutenant. Following his law enforcement career, he was the director of security at Harper-Grace Hospital in Detroit for 11 years. He then became a "Gentleman Farmer" in Melvin, MI until he moved to Florida.
He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Port St. Lucie where he was Deacon and served on several committees and was a member of the Detroit Police Department Lieutenant and Sergeant's Association and the Retired Detroit Police and Firefighters Association.
Survivors include his sons, Edward N. Saffold and his wife Isabelle of Pueblo West, CO, Frederick W. Saffold and his wife Louise Williamson of Emerald Bay, TX, James A Saffold and his wife Sharman of Clarkson, MI and David L. Saffold and his wife Linda of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Edward Jr., Catherine, Jeffery, Peter, Kazuko Jean, Mary Ann, Stephanie Marie, Michael Shane, Kristen, Tracy, Darlene, John, James Jr., David, Michelle, Mark and Jordan; twenty four great grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Saffold in 2002 and his brother, Eugene Saffold and sister in law Elsie Saffold.
SERVICES: There will be a memorial service at 10:00 AM on May 16, 2014 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2401 Se Sidonia St, Port St Lucie.
