Obituary

Alden F. Peck, Sr. passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023 at the age of 98. He was born September 9, 1925 in New Haven, Connecticut and there he spent his childhood years. In 1943, his senior year in high school, Al enlisted in the Marine Corps. After basic training at Parris Island, he was assigned to the Marine Air Corps in Mojave, CA. From there, Al was stationed on Midway Island in the South Pacific. He was extremely proud of his service in the Marine Corps and proud to serve his country.

After World War II, Al moved to Clearwater Beach, Florida where he met his soul mate and future wife, Ann Oliver. Al and Ann returned to Connecticut to raise their two sons, Alden, Jr. and Kevin. In Connecticut, Al became a successful custom home builder in the shoreline town of Guilford.

In 1971, with their sons grown, Al and Ann returned to Florida where they always dreamed of a home on the water. They settled in Seagate Harbor, Palm City, where they built their home on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. There they made lifelong friends and lifelong memories in their Seagate Harbor neighborhood. Especially in their early years in Florida, Al and Ann were active boaters. One of their favorite trips was sailing with friends on the Intercoastal Waterway from Palm City to Baltimore. Another was cruising the Trans-Florida Canal through Lake Okeechobee to the West Coast of Florida, continuing through the Florida Keys and returning to Palm City. Al was a passionate fisherman and loved spending time on Lake Okeechobee with his fellow fishermen especially in retirement.

With his sons, Al started Peck Construction Co. in 1973. He and his sons successfully built custom homes throughout Martin and St. Lucie Counties for almost 40 years. Al loved building and even in retirement he continued to find interesting projects to pursue.

In 2012, Al was able to fly on an Honor Flight from Martin County to Washington, D.C. and the World War II Memorial. This trip meant the world to him. Throughout his life, Al never lost his zest for life or pride of his service to his country. Wherever Al was, and whatever he was doing, he made new friends, cherished old friends and enjoyed life to the fullest. Above all, Al was happiest spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Rachel, David and Kelly.

Al was proceeded in death by his beloved grandson, David Peck. He is survived by his much-loved wife, Ann, sons Alden, Jr. and wife, Jane of Palm City and Kevin and wife, Lorrie of Roseville, CA. Granddaughter Rachel Sabo, son-in-law Michael Sabo and great-grandchildren Benjamin and Hadley of Mooresville, NC. Granddaughter Kelly Booth, son-in-law Justin, great-grandchildren Bryce and Brooklyn of Loomis, CA.

The Peck Family would like to give a special thanks to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and health care givers through the years that helped our father live such a long, full, and happy life. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
