Obituary of Alfred Apicella

Fred Thomas Apicella (88) passed away on Monday, July 13th, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 9th, 1926. Fred was the last of his late Loving parents Giuseppi and Maria Apicella's eight late children. He was a native son of Hoboken, N.J. and lived for many years in Fort Lee, N.J. and Palm City, FL.

He is survied by his loving wife Johanna "Jay" Apicella, his loving daughter Maria Apicella and his loving son Joseph Apicella, and his six loving grandchildren Ciarra, Athyna, Joseph Thomas, Isabelle, Joshua, and Abigail, and his loving dog daisy.

His family business, Joseph Apicella & sons seafood, was located on 1st street in Hoboken, N.J. for nearly 100 years, and was an integral part of Hoboken's and northern New Jersey's commerce. When the business finally closed, the store front sign was acquired by the Hoboken Historical Museum.

Fred loved dining out with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching the N.Y. Mets and "Jersey" Giants. He was an Italian American and proud of it. The core of his being was his devotion to the Sacred heart of Jesus and the Immaculate heart of Mary. He was a family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and dog daisy dearly. In his mid life years, he enjoyed spending Sunday dinner at his late loving sister Elsie's house with his loving family. His favorite charity was St. Jude's Children's hospital.

He will be missed by all those he left behind, but some day we will be rejoined on the streets of gold in Heaven.

There will be a Holy Mass for Fred at Palm City's Holy Redeemer Catholic Church (Murphy rd.) on Thursday, July 16th @ 10:00AM, and entombment service right after at Forest Hills memorial park (2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL).

In lieu of flowers you can make donations in his memory to St. Jude's children's hospital or Dogs & Cats Forever animal sanctuary.
