Obituary

Allan Joseph Abraham was born to Sullivan Abraham and Ernestine Honorè on February 10th, 1926, in Blenheim, Dominica. Allan Abraham was baptized in Vieille Case, Dominica. He grew up with his twin sister Alley, who passed away at a young age, and his brothers Nicholson, Avondale, and Hermie. Allan was an altar boy serving the local church. At the age of 21, he had his first son, Stephen Abraham. A decade later, he met Grania Bethel in Wesley when she was visiting friends. They fell in love and later got married in 1958. He owned a convenience store for a few years and then later became an agriculturist for the botanical garden. Allan and Grania had their 3 children Mervyn, Avril, and Glen in Dominica.

In 1964, Allan's brother, Avondale, sponsored him to the United States. He resided in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and shortly after he sent for his wife and children. In 1968, the baby of the family, Peter, was born in New York. In 1973, Allan bought his first house. Peter inspired him to start a garden due to a school project. He spent many hours in his garden, and Allan grew the best tomatoes. They were big and delicious! Allan worked at Hills Supermarket for 10 years and then became a storeroom manager at United Geriatric Center until he retired. In 1986, his first grandchild, Aaron, was born in New York. In March 1991, Allan moved to Port Saint Lucie, F.L. with his wife, daughter, and grandson. Allan enjoyed the warm weather and spending time in his garden trying to re-grow tomatoes, but it was harder to grow them well in the Florida heat and soil. Within the next decade, his grandchildren Ashley and Adrienne were born then he lost his wife, Grania, and then later gained another grandchild Angela. Within that time, he took on the name "Papa".

Papa was a selfless, genuine, family man. He was authentic and always spoke his mind (sometimes too much). He was a blessed man, not with wealth but with health which money cannot buy. He had a great memory and was a family historian. Papa was protective, caring, and had a profound love for his family and friends. He was a devoted Catholic and loved reading his Bible and praying for his family. Papa always instilled the importance of salvation in his family. Papa memorized scriptures and recited prayers, believed in the Word, and loved Jesus. Papa's faithfulness and dedication were truly inspiring. He loved going to church, admiring pictures, taking care of his grandchildren, sharing stories, watching television, spending time with family, and maintaining order in his house as the chief. Papa enjoyed starting his day with a cup of coffee, then at night he would go into "the head office" (his bedroom) and eat his vanilla ice cream.

Allan was a great husband, father, papa, uncle, cousin, and friend. He leaves behind his 4 children, Mervyn Abraham, Avril Le Blanc, Glen Abraham, and Peter Abraham, his brother Hermie Royer, his son-in-law Alex Le Blanc, his daughters-in-laws Melcite Dieudonne, Dr. Yvette Abraham, and Gloria Abraham. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Aaron Abraham, Ashley Abraham, Adrienne Le Blanc, and Angela Abraham, and his great-grandson Elijah Smith and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances. He is now reunited with late family members and friends rejoicing in heaven with Jesus.
Allan Joesph Abraham was a good man and will forever be dearly loved; he will be missed.
