Celebrating the Life of Allan Winston Huggins
With profound love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Allan Winston Huggins — a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished brother, uncle, cousin, trusted friend, and a man whose kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Allan peacefully entered eternal rest on May 11, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by the love of family and the grace of God at his home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Though our hearts mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing that he is now resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord.
Born on May 19, 1941, in Barrouallie, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Allan was the cherished son of Clarence Huggins and Linda Walker. From an early age, he was known for his calm spirit, kindness, and strong sense of responsibility.
In 1961, Allan married the love of his life, Doris Matthews, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span 65 years and be filled with unwavering love, sacrifice, and devotion. Their journey took them from St. Vincent to London, England, and eventually to Brooklyn, New York, where they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and community.
A hardworking and respected professional, Allan transitioned from teaching into a distinguished career in financial services, working for Goldman Sachs and Morgan Guaranty (now JPMorgan Chase). He was admired for his integrity, professionalism, wisdom, and dependability. Though dedicated to his work, Allan’s greatest joy was always his family.
A passionate cricket supporter and community leader, Allan proudly served as managing partner of the Cavaliers Cricket Club in Brooklyn, fostering fellowship, mentorship, and lifelong friendships through the sport he loved. Following retirement, Allan and Doris relocated to Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he remained active in his community through his work as a Notary Public and faithful service as an election poll worker.
Allan will forever be remembered for his warm smile, calm spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for family and friends. He possessed a remarkable gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and supported. Whether through thoughtful advice, words of encouragement, or simply sharing stories and laughter, Allan made a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Clarence Huggins; his grandmother, Dorothy Trumpet, his mother, Linda Huggins; his brother, Walker Huggins; his sisters, Louise Gittens and Eleanor Francis.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Doris Huggins; his loving daughter, Clayon Huggins-Zephyrin; his son-in-law, Neal Zephyrin; his adored grandchildren, Zoe, Naomi, and Ariana, who brought immeasurable pride and joy to his life; his sisters, Doris Bonadie, Jean Mason, and Patsy Quow; his brothers, Robert Huggins and Byron Huggins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, lifelong friends, neighbors, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered by all whose lives he touched.
“With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.” — Psalm 91:16
