Obituary

Alma Jean Sweitzer, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother (GGMa) passed away peacefully, at home, in Palm City on June 26, 2021.  She was born in Lamar, Colorado, on March 13, 1925, grew up in Jacksonville, Illinois,  graduated from Jacksonville High School and then attended MacMurray College.  She married Richard Sweitzer in 1946 and they lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and subsequently moved to Alliance, Ohio in 1966.  They enjoyed a remarkable 67 years together,  and made an excellent team.  Through the years they enjoyed golf and many travels.  She was an avid bridge player and a proud homemaker.  Much of her life was devoted to her children and grandchildren.  She was also a remedial reading teacher in Ohio.  After retirement, in 1998, she moved with her husband to Palm City, and there they made many new friends and thoroughly enjoyed the Florida lifestyle.

She is survived by her daughters, Sally Schaeffer (Ken) and Stacey Sweitzer, grandchildren Jamie Schaeffer, Jordan Schaeffer, Adam Szasz, Katie Hasson, and Stephanie Alanis, and great grandchildren, Alan Schaeffer, Addison Schaeffer, Zachary Schaeffer, Cody Schaeffer, Noah Alanis, Eiler Hasson, Kylie Schaeffer, Sienna Alanis and Etta Hasson.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Sweitzer, and her brother, Keith Stocker.

The family is grateful to the special individuals, Mervelyn, Hopal and Ameeta, who helped with her care throughout the past years.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, July 10, at Forest Hill Funeral Home on SW Murphy Road in Palm City. Visitation is from 10:00-11:00  AM with a graveside service at 11:00 AM and a luncheon reception following  at Monarch Country Club, 1801 SW Monarch Club Drive, Palm City. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Hill Funeral Home.  Online guest book may be signed at www.foresthillspalmcityflorida.com.
