Anna Mae
Hataway
November 25, 1936 – April 3, 2026
Anna Mae (Deloach) Hataway, 89, of Palm City, Florida, went to be with her beloved husband, Billie Hataway.
She was born on November 25, 1936, to Sadie (Strickland) and Leland Deloach. She graduated from Stuart High School in 1954. Anna Mae married Billie in 1955, and they lived in Stuart before moving to Palm City in 1965. She raised more than just her own children—there was always an extra plate ready for the many kids who found their way to her table.
Anna Mae worked in the lunchroom at Parker Elementary School and later as a teacher’s aide at Port Salerno Elementary School.
She loved hunting, shooting skeet, and camping with her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She spent many summers fishing with them, whether at the beach or at the hunting camp.
She shared a passion for skeet shooting with Bill and many friends across the United States. Over the years, she earned numerous titles, both as part of a four-woman team and individually. She was a lifetime member of the NSSA. Beginning her shooting career in 1979, she registered 6,250 lifetime targets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie Strickland Deloach and Leland Deloach; her brother, Odell (Lucille) Deloach; her nephew, Stephen Deloach; her sister, Jenean (Kenneth) Mattix; her nephews, Michael, Ryan, and Allan Mattix; and her infant brother, Leland Edward Deloach.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy of Palm City, Eddie (Mary Ann) of Okeechobee, and Janet (Rodney) of Gainesboro . She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her siblings, Lavenia (Joyce) Deloach and Mary Alice Yingling.
