Obituary of Arloine Hornby
Arloine Hornby, 91 of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away peacefully from this earthly life on January 29, 2015. She was the daughter of Clarence and Edna Stebbins of Whitesville, NY and the widow of Percy Hornby. Arloine was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend.
She was a dedicated professional who began her accounting career in the automotive business managing and owning, with Percy, the NAPA Auto Parts store in Westfield, PA. After moving to Florida, they owned and operated service stations in West Palm Beach and Marathon. In later years, she followed her accounting career path through interior design businesses in Stuart, FL. Arloine retired at age 76.
Having grown up on a farm in New York State, she loved animals, the outdoors and flowers, which she lavished on friends as blooms appeared. Arloine's many years of involvement with community were highlighted by her service to the Order of the Eastern Star (Worthy Matron) and her dedication to God throughout her life, having influenced many young children through her teaching.
She is survived by a son, James Hornby (Sally) of Colchester, Essex, England and daughters Cindy Cantrell (Frank) of South Carolina and Mary Beatty (Mark) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL plus several grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren in the US and England. Her sister Donna Johnson (Ken) of Wellsville, NY; brother Arnold Stebbins (Berta) of Lake Wales, FL; sister-in-law Ethel Stebbins of Wellsville, NY and many nieces and nephews survive her as well.
She is predeceased by her husband, Percy; parents and stepmother, Clara; her brothers Bernard (Eva), Dale (Marjorie), Duane (Edie), Lawrence (Olive) and Leland; and step-brothers Floyd (Laverna) and Arthur (Bea).
Arloine loved Jesus and studied the Bible with dear friends as long as her eyesight allowed. Now she is in His embrace and her beloved family and friends in Heaven.
Family will be notified of services at a later date. Friends may make memorial contributions to the March of Dimes or charity of their choice.
