Obituary of Arthur Hill, Sr.

Arthur W. Hill Sr., (Art Hill) 85, of Stuart, Florida passed away on November 25, 2014 surrounded by his family. Art was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 13, 1929 to Theresa Kasper and Hector Hill who predecease him. Arthur is survived by his siblings, Frank, Richard, Louis, Ann, John, and Delores and predeceased by sister, Theresa. Arthur was married to Olive Windus, who survives him in their marriage of 63 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by his surviving children: Arthur W. Jr., William H., Patricia Galloway (Michael), Donna Deakins (David), and Steven T. (Ellyn). He was predeceased by by an infant son, Thomas M. Arthur was a devoted family man and actively participated in the lives of his family. His grandchildren adored him: Alicia, Amanda, David Jr., Jason, Deanna, Audrey, Melissa, Tara, Delaney, Dalton, and Steven, and his great grand-children loved him very much: Nathan, Breana, Micaela, Willow, Bryn and Kaymeno. Arthur lived a well loved life as he is survived by many nieces, nephews, step-grands and extended family members who join the immediate family in their love and loss.

As a young man Art enjoyed horseback riding and was a rodeo rider. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served on US Naval Destroyer, USS T. E. Chandler DD-717. Art was retired from Grumman Aerospace where he had worked for 30 years, originally on Long Island, NY, moving to Florida in 1968 where he worked on the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) at Kennedy Space Center and later relocated to Grumman Aerospace Stuart. After retirement, Art was active in the Grumman Retiree Club where he served as President and other roles. Art was active in many service organizations throughout his life including his service with the Boy Scouts of America, the Auxillary Police and Rescue Diver for Babylon Township, NY. Art was a familiar face on election days where he served as a poll worker. He was a past member of the Stuart Elks Club, the Knights of Columbus and provided a supporting service for the South River Condominium Association where he resided. Arthur was a good friend and will be missed.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday Dec. 1, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stuart, FL followed by military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.
