Obituary of Arthur Sherden
Arthur F. Sherden, 94, died peacefully at home in Palm City on March 23, 2014. Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 24, 1919. Art served in the Army during World War II as a tank commander under General Patton. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Edwards Sherden.
A life-long entrepreneur, he started and operated a number of successful businesses in Illinois, Connecticut and Florida. His passion was sailing. He and Mary spent months each year on their boat, traveling throughout the Caribbean. He also sailed across the Atlantic.
In addition to his wife, Art is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William A. and Molly H. Sherden, of Boston; his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Rod Windle of Fernley, Nevada; his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Christian, Rebecca and David; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia.
A funeral service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 4484 Sw Citrus Blvd., Palm City on March 27 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Church of the Advent.
