Obituary of Ashley Lutz
ASHLEY WILLARD LUTZ, passed away, after a long battle with cancer on May 13, 2008. He was born on August 18, 1934 in Englewood, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Andrea, his daughters, Carolyn Arntzen and husband Morten, Allison Wong and husband, Todd, his sons Jonathan, Keith and Scott and seven grandchildren, Hannah, Camilla, Christian, and Celia Arntzen and Davis, Haley and Andrea Wong.
He received a BS in chemical engineering from Purdue in 1955 and an MBA from the Univ. of Conn in 1972. He went on to spend the rest of his career with Union Carbide Corp. He was Chairman of Carbide Far East, living in Hong Kong with his family for several years before retiring as President of the Industrial Chemical Division. He lived in Waccabuc, New York for many years and has resided in the Stuart area for 20.
He touched many lives with his wisdom, humor and great common sense. His interest in gardening served him well as greens chairman of the Waccabuc Country Club, NY, where he also served as the President. In Stuart, he served on the Boards of Hospice and The Florida Oceanographic Society where he especially enjoyed his volunteer work as a trail guide. He also loved playing golf, belonging to Waccabus, NY and Harbour Ridge and Shek-o, Hong Kong, country clubs. He played annually with a foursome of friends for 40 consecutive years.
His family will miss his counsel, his knowledge and his love. A Memorial Service will be held later this year. Contributions may be sent to Florida Oceanographic Society or Treasure Coast Hospices.
