Obituary of Audun Tangen
Audun M. Tangen, 90, of Port St. Lucie, passed away July 22, 2014 at the home of his daughter. He was born in Bergen, Norway, and while living in Norway, he was a semi-professional soccer player. Audun came to the United States in 1955 and resided in Interlaken, NY until the mid 1980's. Upon retirement he and his wife Else, relocated to Port St. Lucie, FL. He had been an electrician in Ithaca, NY. In addition he was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Port St. Lucie and until recently continued singing in the church choir. Audun was a Past President of the Sons of Norway, founder of the Mustard Seed Thrift Shop in Port St. Lucie, and recently revived his love of playing bridge.
He is survived by his son, Einar Tangen and his wife Wendy of Frisco TX, daughter, Inger-Marie Ames of Port St. Lucie; step grandson, Todd Thomson and wife Anna of Atlanta, GA, step-granddaughter, Kendall Meade and husband Dan of Frisco, TX; grandsons, Stephen Ames and David Ames, both of Tampa FL; granddaughter, Kris Ames of Clearwater, FL; step-great grandchildren, Ty, Kylie, Brynn and Kelsey; and 2 brothers and 2 sisters in Norway.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Else Tangen in 2009.
Audun was liked and well-respected to all who knew him. He was known for his interesting conversations, his passion for trout fishing in the Finger Lakes of New York, and his love of baseball, especially the Mets. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Graveside service will be held, 11:00AM, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City.
A memorial service will be held, 4:00PM, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Hope Lutheran Church in Port St. Lucie.
