Obituary of Barbara Hatch

Barbara Ann Hatch, (Jannitto) born August 20, 1927 in Manhattan, New York to John Anthony Jannitto and Mary Jane (Domenico) Jannitto. She returned to her Heavenly Father on August 28, 2012 after a valiant struggle against multiple medical challenges. A devoted wife, Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jerome Corbin Hatch. Barbara and her husband started their married life in Waterbury, CT and then moved to Elizabeth, NJ where they lived for almost 40 years.

Barbara is predeceased by her parents and siblings Joseph Jannitto of Waterbury, CT and Amelia Ruscus of Elizabeth, NJ. Having been a true positive role model of authenticity, love, self-sacrifice and living her faith, Barbara was a loving and nurturing mother to Linda Kiriakis of Oviedo, FL, and Robert Hatch of Orange Park, FL. She will be woefully missed yet lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, Kristin Gorman of Lake Mary, Jaim Kiriakis of Casselberry, Justin Kiriakis of Oviedo, Robert Hatch Jr. of Jacksonville, Jerry and Tommy Hatch both of Orange Park, FL. Barbara also was a great-grandmother to Ian Gorman of Lake Mary, Kayden Whiteside of Casselberry and Alyssa Kiriakis of Winter Park, FL.

Having been employed as a bookkeeper for many years for major companies including ESSO Oil now Exxon and as a real estate agent for General Development in both NJ and Fl, Barbara modeled her beliefs of hard work and integrity for all who knew her. Barbara and her husband relocated to Port St. Lucie, Fl. in 1989 with her children and their families not far behind. Barbara reveled in the joy of her family.

Barbara served as a secretary for the local chapter of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Port St. Lucie Chapter of the Purple Heart - the chapter of which her husband was a member. Barbara was an active communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, FL until she was hospitalized five weeks ago in St. Lucie Medical Center. Mom was a genuine and loving person who truly lived her faith, loved her family and country. Always an advocate for what she believed was right, mom will be always loved, treasured and never forgotten. As her family, we thank God for His gift of Barbara Ann Hatch and we feel honored to be able to call her wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 31, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Forest Hills Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Palm City followed by a celebration of life reception for family and friends at the family residence.
