On May 6, 2020, Barbara Rosalie (Holth) Rea, loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend passed away at age 85 at her home in Palm City, Florida.

Barbara was born in Flushing, New York to Carl and Lena Holth on June 26, 1934.  She grew up in Livonia, Michigan, graduated from Bentley High School in 1952, and began attending Michigan State University.  When her beloved father passed in 1952, she moved home in support of her mom, and graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Barbara married George Robert Rea in 1961. Together they raised a son, Bob, and a daughter, Marilyn.   The family moved often in support of George's career, and Barbara always made the new homes special by helping the kids get involved in school, sports, church, and finding fun family activities.  She instilled in her children her sense of adventure and willingness to successfully take on new challenges to broaden their lives. New Hampshire was one of their favorite homes, and Barbara and George enjoyed returning to visit family there over the years.  They eventually settled in Florida where they have resided for the past 30 years.

Barbara was known for her sparkling blue eyes and her kind smile.  She loved to travel and explore the world, creating wonderful memories with George and other family members.    She could often be found tending her garden or working on craft projects.  An avid reader and card player, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.  She found great peace in her faith and was a long-time member of Palm City Presbyterian Church.

Barbara leaves behind her husband George, brother Carl Holth, sister-in-law Nancy Jones, her children Robert Rea (Lynda Bernier), and Marilyn (Tom) Mariano, grandchildren Robert Rea, Jr., James Mariano, Austin Mariano, Emily Mariano, SPC William Bernier, and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date due to Covid-19 restrictions.  Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Treasure Coast Food Bank at www.stophunger.org.
