Obituary of Benjamin Wood

Benjamin F. Wood, 78, of Palm City, FL, died on Friday, September 27th, 2013.

Ben was born on May 21, 1935 in Greensboro, North Carolina and moved to Miami in his teen years. After graduating high school he studied business at University of Miami, joined the US Army and served two years in Germany, and served three years in the Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue Department. In 1966, after his years of service, Ben founded National Time Systems, Inc. which he led through more than 40 years of success with his entrepreneurial leadership. After retiring, Ben moved to Palm City, FL where he enjoyed the last 9 years with his family and close friends.

Through all of his achievements, he was most known as kind and generous man, and a devoted and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Juanita Edwards Wood, and his two children Evie Klaassen (Steven) and Jeff Wood (Allison). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Natasha Klaassen, Gregory Ewald (Lorelei), Meghan Ewald, and Brittany Wood, three great-grandchildren Kya Klaassen, Austin and Avery Ewald, and sister Janice Williams (Kenneth) of Sumter, S.C.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 5, at Forest Hills Funeral Homes Palm City Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Salvation Army, 901 SE Johnson Avenue, Stuart, FL 34994 or Covenant Fellowship 2880 SE Aster Lane, Stuart, FL 34994.
