Bernard (Bernie) Braskamp, 86, of Palm City, passed away on October 12, 2017. Born in Washington, D.C., Bernie lived all over the United States and twice in Europe during his career in the military and with IBM. Bernie served in the United States Marines prior to attending Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut as part of the ROTC program. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Air Force and was a pilot flying B-47 bombers for the Strategic Air Command (SAC) during the Cold War. Soon after being discharged from the Air Force, Bernie joined IBM where he held various executive positions over his 30 year career. Notable accomplishments include selling IBM's first System 360 mainframe computer and launching the IBM Personal Computer in Europe, the Middle East & Africa.

Bernie retired to Palm City in 1992 where he was a member of Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club. As an active member of the Stuart Congregational Church he led the construction of the new sanctuary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan (Jody) Braskamp of Palm City; two sons, John Bernard Braskamp and his wife Gloria of California and Andrew Case Braskamp and his wife Rebecca of Connecticut; his grandchildren, Ana Cristina Braskamp and John Nicolas Braskamp and his niece, Dr. Anna Tucker and her husband Neil Isenstein of Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Bernice Tucker.
