Bernice Edith Koedam, 83, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at home on June 24th surrounded by family. She was born on January 27th, 1939 in Paterson, New Jersey, growing up and living in northern NJ for many years before moving to Florida in 1978.
A blind double date set up by a co-worker (and future sister-in-law) led her to the love of her life, Harro Koedam. They married in October 1966 and three children followed to whom she was a dedicated mother, living her life with God and family of highest importance to her.
Bernice also loved dancing and gatherings of family and friends, extending hospitality to all who entered her home. She always made sure your tummy was full and never wanted you to leave. Family game nights brought her great joy, mostly because of all of the laughter, but also because she was often the winner!
Throughout the past year and a half, Bernice courageously lived her life to the fullest with Harro by her side. She so much appreciated all of the wonderful visits, phone calls, thoughts, and prayers from family, friends, and neighbors.
Bernice is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harro Koedam, her children Donald Koedam (Mary), Sharon Quigley (Jeff), and Susan Koedam, and five grandchildren (who were her pride and joy), Nicholas Koedam, Hannah Koedam, Katie Koedam, Ashley Quigley, and Jake Quigley. She was predeceased by her mother, Edith Kovacs and dear sister, Marge Palumbo.
