IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Rae
Brain
December 24, 1943 – January 18, 2023
It is with copious amounts of love, sorrow and happiness we inform you Betty Rae Brain has made her greatest travel adventure yet. Betty returned to God's Garden and Golden Shores Wednesday January 18, 2023 after a lingering illness. Please lift up your prayers of thanks her suffering has ended and continue to pray for the family left behind. Betty will be with us always in our hearts and minds, so travel on Betty, travel on.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Harold (Lt. Col. USAF retired) and Virginia Criner. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Sidney Brain, her brother Joseph Criner (CPO – US Navy retired), daughter Jennifer Dill and husband Greg, daughter Melissa Altom and her husband August, grandson Zachary Dill, and granddaughter Sidney Carol Dill.
After graduating from the University of Florida in 1966, Betty and She lived in Miami for 17 years before moving to Palm City in 1982. Betty loved flowers and was associated with the South Florida Orchid Society in Miami and belonged to the Stuart Garden Club. In Martin County she was involved with the Arts Council, Palm City Arts Association, Women Supporting the Arts, and supported the school systems while her daughters were in school.
Betty's love of travel led her to be involved in the travel business both in Miami and Palm City. She owned and operated Palm City Travel and her current travel agency Splendid Journeys Inc. She held Certified Travel Counselor, Master Cruise Councilor and several "destination specialists" designations. Betty loved travel and cruising, visited countries all over the world and all seven continents.
Betty also loved painting and visited museums everywhere she traveled to see the great works of famous artists. She was involved with local artists and enjoyed creating her own paintings in various forms of painting media.
