Obituary

Betty Jean Banks Harrell, born June 6, 1935, in Travelers Rest, South Carolina and long time resident of Palm City, Florida departed this life for her Heavenly home on November 27th, 2022.

Betty faced declining health in recent years but never lost her wit, warm personality and determination to be well. In fact, that very determination was what prompted her nurses to declare that "she must have nine lives". In late November, she saw her beloved Dave, we knew it was time for her Heavenly Father, who she loved and served faithfully to say "ENTER IN THOU GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT."

Betty loved and was loved in return by all who knew her. She was very dedicated and devoted to her children. Her children where extremely devoted to her. Her daughter Patricia would drive five hours every other week to be with her. She exuded joy and kindness. With a generous and giving spirit she would gift beautiful hand crafted quilts and crocheted blankets to family, friends and neighbors, and quite frankly to anyone who crossed her path. She and her daughter, Linda made and donated over 223 crocheted blankets for churches, nursing homes and veteran's in the past years.

She was a marvelous cook and collector of cookbooks and recipes. Her southern cornbread dressing was legendary, and in fact, when her son, Michael proclaimed he could make her cornbread dressing "almost as good as mama's" she piped up with "none of y'all can make my dressing as good as mine" Proving that she had not lost her wit and sass. Of Betty's many talents and abilities nothing shines like her love of the Lord and
Savior. She was a dedicated Christian who never hesitated to declare the love and goodness of her Heavenly Father. She let her light shine and lived a life as a true soldier of Christ. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

You were there for our first breathe and we were there for your last.

Betty was predeceased by her husband David Wesley Harrell, grandsons: Michael Lee Harrell, Joshua Lehman Harrell, and David Wesley Harrell; seven brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her children Patricia Elaine Jack (Billy), Michael David Harrell (Kim), Danny Wesley Harrell (Petra), Linda Jean Weinbecker (Anthony), Twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and seven great – great grandchildren; Brothers Sam Banks (Joann), John Smith (Kelly); Sisters Thelma Quigley, Frankie Jean Mullinax and Glenda Cole.
