IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beverly Ann
Gregory
October 10, 1934 – August 2, 2023
Beverly Ann Gregory, 88, passed away on August 2, 2023, in Stuart, Florida. Beverly was born on October 10, 1934, in New York to George Andrew Greig and Evelyn Lowe Greig. She was a Class of 1952 graduate of Cooley High School and subsequently received an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and a master's degree in education from Oakland University. She was a lifelong educator in the Birmingham School District for over thirty years. Her many volunteer projects included substitute teaching, organizing and coordinating schoolbook drives with her local church and fundraising for breast cancer research. Beverly's passion for reading led to a library being named in her honor in Kenya.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her expanding family. She married her childhood sweetheart, Howard Kenneth Gregory, Jr on June 30, 1956, and they remained happily married until his death on September 30, 2021. She is survived by her brother, George Andrew Greig Jr (Loreta); her four children, Susan Bowen (Ed), Debra Gregory-Sugrue (Pat), Catherine Orrico (Rick) and Jon Gregory (Jill); her nine grandchildren, Ryan Sugrue (Bonnie), Andrew Sugrue (Romain), Mathew Orrico (Alex), Kelly Sugrue (Chris), Mark Orrico, Emily Orrico (Tabor), Taylor Gregory, Jordan Bowen and Payton Gallagher (Jon); and five great grandchildren, Ryan William Sugrue, Patrick Gibson Sugrue, Mary Kellen Sugrue, Henri Kenneth Sugrue, and Remi Georges Sugrue.
Beverly will be remembered as a strong, independent woman who loved to travel the world with her husband and family. She was a consummate hostess and entertainer, always making every guest feel like family. She lived life to its fullest, spending her last weeks on this earth traveling to New York to see her five great grandchildren, three grandchildren and daughter and then to Michigan for her grandson's wedding where she spent the weekend with her entire family.
A private celebration of life was held on August 5, 2023. If you wish to make a donation in Beverly's memory, please consider a gift to your local Humane Society.
