IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bobby Lauraetta
Shettleroe
April 29, 1934 – January 8, 2026
Bobby Shettleroe (née Robertson), of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on April 29, 1934, in Union City, Tennessee, in the heart of the Great Depression. The oldest of eight children, Bobby grew up on a farm, where hard work, responsibility, and devotion to family were a way of life - values she carried with her throughout her years.
She attended a one-room schoolhouse during her early education, later graduating from Plymouth High School at the top of her class. Later in life, she attended classes at Palm Beach Junior College. As a young woman, Bobby worked as a switchboard operator, a role well suited to her reliability, patience, and natural ease with people.
Bobby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Jim" Shettleroe Sr.; her son, Gerald "Scott" Shettleroe; her parents; and four of her siblings. After marrying Jim, she moved with him and their young children to Florida in 1961, where they made their home in Jupiter - a place that remained deeply meaningful to her throughout her life.
From 1974 to 1981, Bobby and Jim owned and operated the Enchanted Cottage Beauty Salon. A talented make-up artist with a gentle, caring touch, Bobby was especially known for her wonderful shampoo and scalp massages. Her salon was more than a business - it was a place of warmth, conversation, and connection.
Bobby had a lifelong love of music, dance, travel, and lilacs, embracing joy and curiosity whenever she could. Yet nothing surpassed the deep and abiding love she had for her family, which was always the center of her life.
She is survived by her sons, James "Jimmy" Shettleroe Jr. and George Shettleroe; her granddaughters, Melissa (Shettleroe) Battah (Shadi) of Barre Town, VT; Heather (Shettleroe) Perez of Orlando, FL; Sarah Shettleroe of Montpelier, VT; and Amanda Shettleroe of Orlando, FL; ten great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Gladys (Robertson) Powers, Jerry Robertson (Janice), and Guy Robertson.
Bobby will be remembered as a strong, loving matriarch whose resilience, warmth, and devotion to family created a legacy that spans generations. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
