Obituary of C. Cary Barton
C. Cary Barton, Ph.D., 87, of Fort Pierce, FL, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He had been a resident of Florida since 2005 having lived in Encinitas, California since 1985. He resided in Fort Pierce for the past 3 years. He was born on September 28, 1921 in Ocala, Florida. After high school and college, he continued to study and held L.L.B. and M.B.A. degrees. "He was employed by the US Air Force of Defense Department and Agency for International Development of the Department of State for 29 years" he retired in 1975. He founded and was president of a management development and consulting company in California, CCB Associates, until his second retirement in 1985. He was active in both public and private sectors in California as Chairman of the Community Advisory Board, City of Encinitas, Member of President Ronald Reagan's Private Sector Survey of Cost Control Grace Commission and, Associate Member of California State Central Committee. He was an avid golfer; loved southern food and made the best sweet potato pie; enjoyed listening to jazz music and watched almost all western movies.
Cary leaves behind his wife, Marilyn Carpio Barton; Grandson, Reginald Barton, Jr. (LaFaun) two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Savannah, all of San Francisco, CA; Daughter-in-law, Rosia Barton, Sacramento, CA; Sisters, Lillie (Barton) Barlow, Phil., PA and Louise (Barton) Jones, Doylestown, PA; Sister-in-law, Vivian Barton, Phil., PA; Nieces, Barbara (McClain) Coan, Coral Springs, FL, Marilyn (McClain) Bryant, Port St. Lucie, FL, Al'Maria (McClain) Williams (Fred), Margate, FL, and Phyllis (Barton) Adams, Phil., PA; Nephews, Terence McClain, Sr. (Maureen), Jacksonville, FL, Lance, Bradford, and Gary Barton, all of Phil., PA, Harry D. Jones, Jr., Doylestown, PA, and Cousin Rosa Lee Williams, Ocala, FL, Numerous grand nieces, and nephews, in-laws and friends.
Proceeded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Barton of Ocala, FL, his son, Reginald Barton, Sr., Sacramento, CA, Sister, Marie (Barton) McClain, Jacksonville FL and Brother, Matthew Barton, Phil., PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice and the First Presbyterian Church in Stuart, FL.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 4:00 pm at Forest Hills Byrd, Young and Prill Chapel in Port St. Lucie, FL.
