Carmel May Simms (1956 - 2025)
Carmel May Simms, beloved mother to three children, 69, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on October 5th, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
She was born in St. Ann Jamaica in 1956 to Adolphus and Beatrice Simms, her family later moved to Jackson town Trelawny Jamaica. Camel attended Bramhton primary school before studying hospitality-caretaking at Nutshell domestic school in Trelawny Jamaica, then immigrating to the United States where she worked as a nurse for over 30 years.
Carmel was a devoted mother to Ronald Shirley, Cameria Bailey, and Marvin Bailey, her pride and joy. She always said their birth changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she provided.
Carmel took special joy in bringing her family together, and fond memories of her Sunday and holiday dinners were an anchor of our family.
Carmel was preceded in death by parents Adolphus and Beatrice Simms; siblings John Simms of Toronto Canada; Etta Rolle of Nassau Bahamas; Gracelyn Boswell of Port St. Lucie.
She is survived by her three children Ronald Shirley of Port St. Lucie and his children Ryan Shirley, Aleesha Shirley, and Renee Shirley; Cameria Bailey of Port St. Lucie; and Marvin Bailey and his wife Oluchi Bailey of New Jersey, and their children Colleen and Miriam Bailey.
Carmel Simms is also survived by sibling Jaqueline Crighton and Yvonne Simms of Miami; Elkanah Thomson of Jamaica; Gaymore Simms of Jamaica; Evette Jackson New York; Mavis Hall New York; and countless nephews, nieces, and cousins who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
A visitation will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5 - 8 pm at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL.
Funeral service for her will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at The Worship Center International Ministries in Port St. Lucie followed by burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, FL.
