IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carmen Theresa
Lee
June 16, 1937 – August 26, 2021
EULOGY OF CARMEN LEE
Born to Blanche Scott on June 1st, 1937 in St. D'Acre, St. Ann, Jamaica, Carmen, or Pansy as she was known by relatives and friends, grew up in a large family with multiple aunts and cousins. She moved to Kingston, Jamaica in her teenage years and attended Excelsior High School.
Upon graduation, Carmen was able to pursue her desire to become a nurse and studied in Canada and Ireland before settling down in the City of Derby in the UK to work as a Registered Nurse, in which she later became a Sister or Head Nurse at Pastures Hospital.
She met and married her husband of 57 years, Samuel, in that time and together had 3 children. Carmen and Sam were very involved in community welfare and participated in the Derby West Indian Association for many years. In the early eighties she gave her heart to the Lord and she was just as committed to the Lord and her local church as she was to her family and community. She became a certified teacher within the Church of God of Prophecy and served in that capacity until the very end. She was a fun-loving and charismatic person with many friends who enjoyed bringing people together and, as such, founded The Friendly Circle, a ministry aimed at bringing the local church together as a family for fellowship, games, wonderful Jamaican food and even facilitated a savings program to help the church members better their financial standing.
In 1986 she immigrated to the United States to be with her mother in Brooklyn, New York and eventually moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida where she lived until her passing. Again, Carmen (also lovingly known as Sister Lee) was very much involved in the church. She continued to teach and lead the Women's and Missionary ministries at various times and became one of the "Mothers" of the congregation, always willing to pass on any wisdom she had while loving and encouraging others in their walk with the Lord. She was very passionate, and some would say animated and uncompromising in her approach to discipleship, but it was all fueled by the love of God, His Word and the love for His people. She was a very strong, generous, and compassionate woman who never hesitated to help in time of need. We are all blessed to have known her and she will be
sorely missed.
Sister Carmen Lee was preceded in death by her loving mother, Blanche Berry, and her aunt, Kathleen Cornwall. She is survived and remembered by her partner and committed husband,Sam or Brother Lee, her three children, sons Derek and wife Kay, Nigel and his wife Suzanne,
daughter Samantha, and 8 grandchildren, Benjamin, Isabella, Adam, Joseph, Rebecca, Matthew, Brianna and Skylar, whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind her last living Aunt, Geta Joseph, many cousins and great family friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10th, 2021, with the viewing from 10:00am to 11:00am and her celebration of life service immediately following at Palm City Church of God of Prophecy, 7346 SW 39th Street, Palm City, FL 34990.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association or the Walk to End Alzheimer's.
