Obituary

Carolann Nienburg, age 84, of Jersey City, NJ and Palm City, FL went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Martin North Hospital after a long health battle while at the Stuart Rehab and Health Care facility in Stuart, FL.

Carol was born on September 3, 1941 in the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, NJ to William and Helen Marie Stegman.

Carol’s family was the light of her life. She enjoyed summer trips to “Granny’s” and “Nanny’s” at the South Jersey Shore, taking her boys everywhere from fire stations to control towers, lots of trips to Bear Mountain State Park in New Jersey, and even to the U.S. Military Academy in New York. She was always ready for an adventure!

Carol was passionate about raising her sons in the Catholic faith and providing a Catholic education at St Michael’s in New Jersey; St. Francis and St. Clare in Florida; St. Thomas Aquinas, Our Lady of the Assumption and Marist High School in Georgia.

For over 35 years Carol pursued a career in nursing, serving in local doctor’s offices and hospitals where her responsibilities in medical surgery, ICU/CCU and emergency nursing were handled with professionalism, kindness and dedication.

She is survived by Thomas Nienburg, her husband of 59 years, her sons William (Amy), James, Robert (Claudia) and Thomas, Jr. (Kali), her nine grandchildren, Charlotte, Henry, Jeremy, Frederick, Helena, William, Benjamin, Jack and Lyla, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Carol was warm to all she encountered, a loyal friend and kind to strangers. She was devoted to her family and loved them unconditionally. She will be thought of often and missed in a very loving way.

A viewing will be held Monday, April 6, 2026 at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City from 5-7pm. Funeral Services and a mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on April 7, 2026 at 10am.

A heartfelt thanks to the nurses, nursing assistants, and staff of Stuart Rehab and Health Care facility in Stuart, FL for doing all they could for Carol over three-plus years. Your kindness and care were greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Priests for Life”, P.O. Box 236695, Cocoa, Florida 32923
