IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Casey Powers
Hilton
June 11, 1962 – November 6, 2021
Casey Powers Hilton, 59, passed away on November 6, 2021, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida, after a valiant battle with Merkel Cell Carcinoma.
Casey was born in Syracuse, NY on June 11, 1962. He was raised in Brewerton, NY and later resided in Florida, where he spent most of his life with his family. Casey was a Christian and member of Tropical Farms Baptist Church in Stuart, Florida, where he was Baptized with his wife.
Casey is survived by his wife Barbara Hilton and their Beagle Harley Hilton, along with his stepchildren Lauren; Justin; and Justine Gitto; Grandson Grant Gitto; parents Stanley (Pete) E. & Mary L. (Cusack) Hilton; brother and sister-in-law Stanley (Kevin) & Valerie Hilton; niece and nephew Kayla & Roland Wohlrab; mother-in-law Connie Matejek; brothers and sisters-in-law David (Scott) Herrmann; Lindita Whaley; Deanna Maynard; Rhonda & Oliver Love; niece and nephew Jake & Melissa Herrmann; nephew Cole Herrmann; niece and nephew Kristen and Curtis Rowland; nephew and niece Tim & Mackenzie Maynard; nephew Ian Maynard; step mother-in-law Lynn Meyer, step brother/sister-in-law Scott Moore & Kelly (Moore) Mehan.
Casey was a Professional Firefighter, EMT, Lieutenant, and Battalion Chief with Martin County Fire Rescue, where he served his community in Martin County, Florida for over 32 years. He was also a licensed General Contractor and excelled in making things built to last.
Casey was an Outdoorsman, who loved being physically active. He loved being out in nature and seeing the wildlife, especially in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where he built a beautiful cabin and homestead. He loved cooler temps and a good rain! Casey really enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation that often included the use of heavy equipment. He was very good with a chainsaw and had some serious forestry and survival skills! His father-in-law, Dave Herrmann once said: "Casey's the guy you want to have in a Foxhole with you!"
Casey was a Hero! He saved many lives (on and off the job).
He loved animals, and they loved him too. It was common for him to rescue and raise them. He especially loved Beagles & was an excellent father to more than a few. Some of his favorite pets included dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, racoons, and more. One day a stray cow came into the yard, and he contained it till animal rescue came. He was an animal magnet!
Casey had a great sense of humor, infectious laugh, and a servant's heart. He was a loyal friend, mentor, and helped many people along the way with their careers and assistance in many ways … even after he started his cancer treatments.
Many people shared in the grief of his long cancer journey, and would ask "why YOU Casey?" So not fair. With a humble heart he would say, "Why NOT me?" He knew what he was up against, and he met it with courage. He met many other warriors along the way, fighting and persevering through cancer and other trials. Casey was inspired by their stories, and in turn inspired others with his example of faith and endurance.
Casey dearly loved his family & friends! He would want us to celebrate his life with memories of all the good times, and knowing he's restored and living in peace with our Heavenly Father & loved ones in heaven.
