Catherine Elizabeth Wakefield, (93), of Port Saint Lucie passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20 ^th , 2020.

Catherine was born on February 22. 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, to Nelson and Alice McDonald Johnson. Early in her life she took on a trade as a secretary before marrying her husband Alvin Hurford.  Catherine enjoyed writing short stories and poems and was an avid boater. She cherished her RV expeditions with her second husband Fletch, their RV group "The Raiders", and visiting her family and friends across the USA. Her Watercrest Assisted Living "family" looked forward to her weekly story and poem gatherings that Cathy lead.  Being a Roman Catholic, she was a past member of the Saint Martin's Church in Jensen Beach.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Alice Johnson; her first husband, Alvin Charles Hurford; her second husband, Fancher Wakefield; and her brothers, Nelson and Joseph Johnson.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dennis Hurford (Thelma Jane) of Port Saint Lucie, FL; daughter, Patricia Danaher (Jim) of Port Saint Lucie, FL; daughter Mary Anne Dooley (Martin) of Weymouth, MA; sister, Alice Gartland of Jax Beach, FL; sister, Virginia Dougherty of Mt Laurel, NJ; brother, Charles Johnson (Joan) of Foster City, CA; and a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; great, great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many close friends who will all miss her dearly.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 29 ^th , at 1:00 pm at Forest Hills Palm City Chapel followed by a graveside service and interment at Forest Hills Memorial Park.  A mass in Catherine's honor will be scheduled at a later date next year.
