Obituary of Charles Burtoft

Charles Edward Burtoft, 92, passed away Friday, November 9, 2007 at Treasure Coast Hospices in Stuart.

Born in Whitaker, PA, he moved to Florida in 1962 from Pittsburgh, PA and has resided in Stuart for 40 years.

He was a retired Design Engineer for Pratt Whitney Aircraft.

He was of the Protestant faith; a member of the Masons and Shriners; past President of Hidden Harbor Association; past Commander of St. Lucie River Power Squadron; Past District Lt. Commander of District 8 Power Squadron; and Past Commodore of St. Lucie Sailing Association.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Burtoft of Stuart; daughter, Caryl Jean Menendez of Tampa; son, Gary Edward Burtoft of Bloomfield, KY; three grandchildren, Robert C. Sink, Jr.; Shawn Michael Burtoft; Amiee Nicole Burtoft; three great grandchildren, Robert C. Sink, III; Brenton Shane Sink; and Brooke Marie Sink.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Burtoft; brothers, Nelson and Robert Burtoft; and sister, Ruth Conley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospices, Inc., 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be 5 PM to 7 PM, Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Forest Hills Funeral Home in Palm City. Memorial Services will follow at 7 PM.
