Obituary of Charles Covington
Charles Edward Covington, 82, of Okeechobee, passed away October 16, 2009 at his daughter's home in Indiantown. He was born in Jackson, TN. He had been a resident of Okeechobee for 6 years, having moved from Indiantown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served during WWII, and fought in Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He had worked for the Tampa Police Department, Pratt & Whitney, and retired as a machinist from Grumman Aircraft. He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Indiantown. He was a member of the Shriners, the Masons and was a 12year member of the Martin County School Board.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice Covington of Okeechobee; daughter, Wanda Amerson (Carl) of Indiantown; grandson, Neil Amerson (Katina) of Palm City; granddaughters, Amanda Fines (Brian) of Texas and Tammy Amerson of Stuart, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
A funeral service will be 6:00PM, Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Family Worship Center in Indiantown.
Interment will be Tuesday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia.
Arrangements are entrusted to Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm city Chapel.
