Clara Katrina Abrahamson, 95, passed in peace on Friday June 14 th , at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Clara was born April 17, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York to John and Katri Ellixson. She married Martti William Abrahamson on July 24, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York.
She graduated High School early at the age of 17 and after her husband passed, at the age of 70, Clara successfully completed Master level college courses for the Deaconess program.
Clara actively worked as a bookkeeper and office manager in various places. She also volunteered for Treasure Coast Hospice for 5 years doing visitations and working with grieving families. Clara was even awarded "Outstanding Volunteer of the Year" in 2007. She was known for her loyalty and amazing commitment to their patients and their families.
She was an avid reader of books, daily devotionals, and her Bible. She enjoyed crossword and other puzzles to keep her mind active. Clara loved swimming and doing volunteer work throughout her life. She always gave generously to multiple charities and to the First United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member. She served as the President of United Methodist Women and was heavily involved in the group, was a leader of the Stephen Ministries, and was a Deaconess as well. Clara was also the President of the Pilot Club International.
Clara is survived by her children Lynne Wiltshire, Alan Abrahamson, and Lisa Mayer. Her legacy continues with nine grandchildren, Craig, Chad, Gray, Cameron, Ashlee, Kristen, Erica, Morgan and Ryan; six great grandchildren, Julia, Mikayla, Kennedy, Mac, Fortson and Jameson; along with many friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Martti and her brother George.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 20 th , from 4-7pm at Forest Hills Funeral Home in Palm City. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21 st , at 11 am at Forest Hills Funeral Home.
