Obituary of Clyde Nelson

Clyde W. Nelson, 87, of Palm City, FL, passed away August 30, 2008 at Waters Edge in Palm City. He was born August 16, 1921 in Chicago, IL. He had been a resident of Palm City since 1989, having moved from Deerfield, IL. He was a veteran of the USAAF Cadet Corps during WWII. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. and was awarded his pilots wings. He was in the 391st Bomb Group based in Matching Green, and was in two missions on D Day. He was awarded the DFC, PH, AM (11cluster), ETO ribbon (4 battle stars), & France JoL.

In Illinois he served two terms as a Trustee of Lincolnshire, IL. He was an advertising executive in Illinois before retirement. He was a founding President of the Homeowners Association at Sandhill Cove in Palm City, and was a member of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Stuart.

Grandpa Clyde was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Donna Nelson of Palm City; daughter, Kim Soskin (Skip) of Alameda, CA; sons, Burr Nelson (Ginny) of Bement, IL, Steven Monteiro (Florence) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Jorge Monteiro (Judy) of Jupiter, FL; grandchildren, Anna, Peter, Jeff, Erin, Evan, Reed, Cory, Justin (Debbie), Leige, Danielle and Emily; and two great grandchildren, Jack and Lilly.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne Nelson.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, September 5th at St. Marys Episcopal Church in Stuart.
