Daniel John Abruzzo, retired officer with the New York City Police Department and 35 year-resident of Jensen Beach, FL, died peacefully on November 10, 2021 at the age of 87 after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Anna Abruzzo, his beloved wife Anna Marie Abruzzo, sister Annette Lohn, and brother Eugene Abruzzo. He is survived by his children Michael Abruzzo (Peggy Wood) and Diane Carbone (Biagio); his grandchildren Nicholas Carbone, Gianna Carbone, and Julia Wood Abruzzo; his companion Joy Walis; and many nieces and nephews.

Daniel was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 14, 1934 to Michael Abruzzo and Anna Abruzzo.  After completing service in the US Army he joined the NYC Police Department and married Anna Marie Muller on May 16, 1964.  They resided in Rego Park, Queens NY, where they raised Michael and Diane.  Daniel had many friends and was well loved in his community.  After retiring, Daniel moved to Jensen Beach, FL in 1987, where he enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.  Daniel was a devoted Catholic and attended Mass regularly at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.

A viewing will be held at Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 Southwest Murphy Road, Palm City, on November 15, 2021 from 3PM to 5PM.  Funeral Mass will be held on at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. 2555 NE Savanna Road., Jensen Beach on November 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM.

Daniel's family asks that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Treasure Coast Hospice or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
