Dominick DePhillippo, tenderly known to friends and family as Dom, transitioned from this world and joined the love of his life, Bonnie, in the great beyond on December 24, 2016. Dom spent his final resting days surrounded by loving family and his attentive dog, Chloe, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Dom found solace during his last months, enjoying the serene lake view, watching the wild animals, and sitting peacefully in the comfort of his relatives' home.

Born on June 18, 1931, to Josephine and Joseph DePhillippo in Brooklyn, New York, Dom was one of three children. His siblings are Marie Marolda and John DePhillippo. Dom had a full life filled with adventure, travel, family, and lots of doggie love. As a young man, Dom spent 11 rewarding years in the personnel division of the Airforce and married his first love. They had two children, Dolly and Vincent. Dom and his family were Jehovah's witnesses and spent time spreading the word of their faith. After a tragic shooting of Dom's brother-in-law, Dom's first wife decided she wanted to live on an island and they moved to Hawai'i. Hawai'i was not the right fit for Dom, but island living called to him and he moved to St. Croix, a beautiful island in the United States Virgin Islands. This move changed more than just his location; this is where Dom met the love of his life, and where, as he liked to tell it, his life began. Bonnie and Dom were together for 10 years before they finally tied the knot at Lake Tahoe, California. As Bonnie fondly told the story, Dom looked at her while driving around Lake Tahoe, after being together for 10 years, and said, "Are we going to do this, kid?" They may have had a simple wedding in California, but they certainly did not live a simple life. Bonnie was an entrepreneur and was constantly reinventing herself, finding new talents and exploring hobbies; Dom was happy and supportive by her side, where his ability to fix and build anything enabled them to achieve many dreams. Dom worked full-time at Pan Am Distributors and was loved by customers and co-workers alike. Grandchildren came along over the years on St. Croix, and added to Dom and Bonnie's joy. Loni, Danielle and Kenna were born to Danny McGackin, Bonnie's son. Dom and Bonnie relocated to the mainland after Hurricane Hugo devastated the island in 1989, settling in the Appalachian Mountains in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Enjoying their time in the beautiful mountains, Dom and Bonnie adopted two dogs, Willow and Boo Boo, rounding out their family. Their granddaughter, Loni, lived with them for a year. Time went on, and the search for a slightly warmer climate took Dom and Bonnie to Asheville, North Carolina. They fell in love with this artsy town and remained there until Bonnie wanted to head south to Florida. Dom and Bonnie moved to Palm Coast, Florida, in 2010, where they remained, until Bonnie passed on from this world on October 12, 2015. Dom and his dog, Chloe, stayed in Palm Coast for a year, and eventually moved in with his great nephew, Richie, and loving wife, Bette, at their home in Port St. Lucie. He enjoyed his days being with people who loved him and who ensured that he was happy, comfortable, and cared for. Dom's life was rich and full. He traveled, he loved, he lived.

Dom's ashes will be spread at Lake Tahoe, where he and Bonnie married, and on St. Croix, at his request. The release of the ashes and memorial will be held at sunset on June 18, 2017, at the beach connected to Chenay Bay beach on St. Croix, and simultaneously at Lake Tahoe, location to be determined. Anyone that knew Dom and Bonnie are welcome to join either memorial service in person and share any memories with the family.
