Donald "Donnie" "Smitty" Ross Smith, 55, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 30, 2020.
Family and friends may visit between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Christ Fellowship in Port Saint Lucie. The funeral service will begin at 12:15 pm following visitation. Pastor Travis O'Neal of Christ Fellowship - Port Saint Lucie campus will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City.
Donald was born in Washington, DC on April 3, 1965. He graduated from Parkdale High School in Riverdale, Maryland. He joined the Army following high school. After a few years, Donald became a member of the Maryland Army National Guard. At time of passing, he held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was preparing to promote to Sergeant First Class. His last post was Maryland Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment 58 th Troop Command. Donnie served in Kuwait in support of United States Central Command Operations.
Donald worked for Allied Universal as a security guard and as a Chaplain's Assistant for the military. He most recently enjoyed serving on the safety team at Christ Fellowship. In past years, he also enjoyed playing ice hockey and paintball.
Donald is survived by his spouse, Candace, his daughter, Makayla, his son, Alex; his mother and step-father, Nancy and Tom Donnaud; his sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Tony Nichols; his brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Melissa Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Ross Smith.
Flowers may be sent to Christ Fellowship at 10250 SW Village Pkwy Drive, Port Saint Lucie, Florida 34987. The family wishes to thank everyone for their support, words of comfort, and prayers during this time.
