Obituary of Donald Stevens

Age 91, of Palm City, Florida died on Friday, September 19, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Stevens was born on November 10, 1916 in Savannah, NY. He was a graduate of Syracuse University and was also a Trustee Emeritus. Mr. Stevens was a successful Chemical Engineer who retired in 1977 as a senior Vice President of Standard Oil of Ohio after many extensive years of service. In 1973, he succeeded in negotiating the first royalty agreement by a US Company with the Peoples Republic of China. Mr. Stevens came to the Palm City area in 1986 from Ohio with his wife Jeanette Stevens who preceded him in death in April 2008. He was of Presbyterian faith and a member of the Palm City Presbyterian Church and an affiliate member of All Villages Presbyterian Church in St. Lucie West, FL. He was also very active locally in United Way efforts.

Survivors include his daughter Diane (Rev. George) McIlrath of St. Lucie West, FL and two grandsons; Steven (Trina) McIlrath of Chicago, IL and Jeffrey (Heather) McIlrath of Morrison, IL. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Palm City Presbyterian Church, 2700 Martin Highway, Palm City, FL 34990. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Palm City Presbyterian Church, All Villages Presbyterian Church, 1550 SW Heatherwood Blvd. St. Lucie West, FL 34986 or a charity of your choice.
