Obituary of Donald Van Gorden
Donald J. VanGorden, 86, of Stuart, passed away May 24, 2007 at Parkway Health and Rehabilitation in Stuart. He was born February 24, 1921 in Montclair, NJ. He had been a resident of the Treasure Coast since 1985, moving from Greenwich, CT. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He was an Assistant Vice-President in the Banking industry, and had also worked for the Post Office.
He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Kiwanis Club, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He volunteered extensively at St. Catherines Church in Riverside, CT.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary VanGorden in 2005.
He is survived by his sons, Donald Joseph VanGorden Jr. of Midlothian, VA, Edward D VanGorden of Jupiter, Thomas J.F. VanGorden of Forestville, CA, Gerard W. VanGorden of Cos Cob, CT, Richard A. VanGorden of Grand Rapids, MI; daughters, Mary Lou Klage of Hobe Sound and Margaret B. Helm of Stuart, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 6:00 PM Sunday at Young & Prill Funeral Home, Stuart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Hobe Sound.
Interment will follow immediately at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.
