Obituary

Dorothy A. Mathias of Stuart, FL, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2016 at her home.

Born in New York, NY, she had been a resident of Stuart for over 30 years coming from New Jersey.

Prior to retiring she was an executive secretary for St. Agatha Home for Children in Nanuet, NY and an executive secretary as a "Kelly Girl" with AT&T in Bernardsville, NJ.

She graduated from St. Gregory the Great Elementary School in New York City and A.B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon, NY where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She had been a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Pearl River, NY, where she was president of the Lady's Auxiliary and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Stuart.

Survivors include her daughter, Madelyn Mathias of Stuart; her son Patrick Mathias of New Jersey; three grandchildren and one great grandchild; her sister Eleanor Bruckmann and her husband Bob of Connecticut and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph W. Mathias and her sisters, Kay Koch and Mary "Mimi" McClusky.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016 with a vigil prayer service at 6:30 PM at Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, FL.
