IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Veronica
Mcbride
May 25, 1939 – July 22, 2024
Dorothy (Dolly) Devlin McBride was born in Washington, DC to Andrew Devlin and Mary Dorothy Devlin and died peacefully the morning of July 22 surrounded by her family.
Dolly is survived by her devoted husband, Jim, her sister, Molly Dorsey, and her children, Robert Sullivan (Paula), Andrew Sullivan (Lisa) Craig Sullivan (Theresa), Stacey Sullivan-Testa (Mike), Margaret McCabe (Dan), Michele Deckman (Jim), and Mary McBride. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Matthew Sullivan, Brian Sullivan, Benjamin Sullivan, Gavin Sullivan, Declan Sullivan, Shane Sullivan, Kyle Sullivan, Heather Rigg, TJ Rigg, Anna Rigg, Andrew Rigg, Clare Russell, Daniel McCabe III, Caroline McCabe, Lilly McCabe, William McCabe, Ashley Nilsen, Joey Deckman, Tracy Deckman, Julia Deckman, and Lydia Deckman, and nine great-grandchildren.
Dolly grew up in Bethesda, Maryland where she became lifelong friends with many. She graduated from Ursaline Academy after which she attended Duquesne University. Dolly followed her father into the building business. She enjoyed a long, successful career as a self-employed entrepreneur.
Dolly cannot simply be summed up by the facts and figures of her life. Her love for the water and adventure led her and Jim through many magnificent excursions worldwide. She was extremely well-read and intelligent yet savored the simple things in life such as a good Nora
Roberts book on a Sunday afternoon, anything on the water whether swimming or boating, or just spending quality time laughing with her husband, children, and many, many grandchildren.
Dolly lived life on her own terms."Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." From a headstone in Ireland.
