Obituary of Dorothy Sozzio

Dorothy K. Sozzio, 91, of Palm City, Florida, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend died on June 25, 2011 at Martin Memorial Medical Center, Stuart. Born in Glastonbury, CT, she lived in Palm City for 34 years, coming from Lyndhurst, Westfield, and then Middletown, NJ.

Prior to retirement, Dorothy had been executive secretary for Travelers Insurance, Hartford, CT and Newark, NJ, and Holman Label, Summit, NJ. She was a Charter Member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Palm City.

Dorothy's outgoing spirit involved her in many activities. She was a church organist, President of the Girl Scouts Association of Lyndhurst, NJ, Vice-President of the Board of Education, Lyndhurst, First President of the Shady Oaks Condominium Association of Middletown, NJ, and First President of the Whispering Sound HOA, Palm City, FL.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years John B. Sozzio of Palm City; daughters, Karen A. Griffin and her husband Steven of Palm City, Joanne D. Merrell and her husband Richard of Stuart, and Donna H. Sozzio of West Palm Beach; grandchildren, Eric Griffin and his wife, Adrienne, Ryan Merrell and his wife Karla, Christopher Wiemer, Dana Anderwald and her husband Robert, Brian Wiemer and his wife Nicole and Justin Wiemer and great grandchildren, Michael Anderwald and Alex and Isabelle Wiemer.

SERVICES: Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on July 1, 2011 at Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on July 2, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Entombment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Palm City, FL.
