Obituary of Douglas Grant
Douglas J. Grant, 76, of Palm City, FL, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Treasure Coast Hospice Hay-Madeira House, Stuart, FL.
Born in Ossining, NY, he lived in Palm City for 23 years, coming from Navesink, NJ.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force before attending college at Newark College of Engineering. He received a Master's Degree in Business Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University and was a financial manager at Bell Laboratories for over 25 years. Before retiring in 1989, he was an financial Manager with AT&T in Holmdel, NJ. He was an avid recreational flyer and loved the sport of aviation. He obtained his commercial pilot rating and taught flying lessons at Stuart Airport. He also loved flying radio control models and was a member of The Sundancer Radio Club in Port St. Lucie, FL.
Survivors include his sons, Timothy J. Grant of Parsippany, NJ and Dr. Gerald A. Grant of Stanford, CA; a stepdaughter, Nancy J. Taylor of Broomfield, CO; stepsons, Robert E. Taylor of Vail, CO and David S. Taylor of Boulder, CO; his companion, Darla Hinton of Palm City and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ella Grant, his sister Marjorie Davis and brothers, Roger Grant and Robert Grant.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City. Inurnment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force.
