Obituary

Edith May Carpenter, born to Milburn Adams and Belva Riddle on August 8, 1925 in Etty, Kentucky, passed away at 92 in her daughter's home February 11.

Edith was married to Hubert Damron and had 8 children: Betty Mailloux, Gene Damron, Larry Damron, Jeanette Weiss, Sam Damron, Debby Gordon, Gail Drake, and Herby Damron. They originally lived in Hollywood, Florida but eventually moved to Palm City where she lived for over 50 years.

Spending most of her life as a homemaker until Hubert passed, she went back to high school at age 50 to receive her diploma. She became a senior riveter at Grumman Aerospace, where she met and married Bill Carpenter.

Although she faced many hardships of her own, she was always there for her family.  Over the years she would come to have 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Edith was a very loving and devoted Mother and Gramma. She loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her.  She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company, and no one could beat her chocolate pie.  She had a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, and a beautiful smile.

There are no words to describe the type of love that she gave to her family.  She always put others before herself and had a unique way of making each one of us feel like we were her favorite.   We wish to celebrate her life and honor the love and values she instilled in us all.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, February 19, 2018, at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City, Florida with a celebration of her life at 12:00 PM.  Interment will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart.
