Obituary of Edward Burke
Edward John Burke, 94, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at The Oaks at Skylyn, Spartanburg.
Born in New York, NY, he was a resident of Spartanburg coming from Stuart, Florida.
During WWII he served in the US Navy Seabees.
He was the Mayor of Biscayne Park, FL, for 28 years, a plumbing contractor, and a member and past-president of the Florida League of Cities.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Miller and her husband Alex, a granddaughter, Rachael Miller, and a grandson, Jack Miller, all of San Diego, CA; a brother, Robert Burke of New York, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anna Garner Burke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., September 2, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stuart, FL, followed by entombment in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Hills Funeral Homes- Palm City Chapel.
