Obituary of Edward Mackessy

Edward Allen Mackessy, 84, of Stuart, Florida, died November 3, 2007 at the Manors of Hobe Sound, Hobe Sound, Florida.

Born in Paris, Illinois, he had been a resident of Florida for 40 years, 12 of which were in Hobe Sound, coming from Paris, Illinois.

During WWII he served in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars for valor.

Before retiring he had been an independent lather in the construction industry.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mertie Louise Mackessy of Stuart; sons Ronald Presley of Shelby, TN, Ronald Mackessy of and Donald Mackessy, both of Paris, IL, Robert Mackessy of Indianapolis, IN, Lacon Crossland of Georgia and Kenneth Crossland of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Kathy Campbell of Paris, IL, Roberta Daily of Hobe Sound, Nancy Derryberry of Jonesboro, GA, Mary Islam of Greenville, SC and Ester Mackessy of Stuart; over 25 grandchildren and over 10 great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: Visitation will be November 6, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City. There will be a service at 1:00 PM, November 7, 2007 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow, with military honors provided by the US Army, in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.
