Obituary of Edward Sullivan

Edward J. Sullivan peacefully went home to the Lord on July 23, 2007 after a brief illness. He was born in Passaic, NJ on May 6, 1925 and has been a resident of Palm City since 1992 after moving from Nutley, NJ.

After serving in World War II as a Marine aboard the USS Bataan, he returned to NJ and graduated from Seton Hall University. After 20 years working for the U. S. Navy Department, he went into private industry and retired in 1991 from 3M.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Carol (Yardley) Sullivan. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret, and is survived by their three children, Margaret Sullivan of Denville, NJ; Gloria Fullerton, of Rockaway, NJ; and Douglas Sullivan, of Westfield, MA; and three grandchildren, Sean Sullivan, Margaret Fullerton and Tara Sullivan. He also leaves his sister, Barbara Grill and her husband, John of Waldwick, NJ.

As a parishioner of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, he was an usher for 15 years. In addition to his volunteer activities in his own community, he was very active in Martin County. As a former Marine, he proudly carried the American Flag in the veteran parades in Stuart. He was the first President of the Martin County Sheriffs Athletic League.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospices, Inc.

Calling hours will be held 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, July 26, 2007 at Forest Hills Funeral Home in Palm City with a Vigil Service at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park with military honors provided by the U. S. Marine Corps.
