Obituary of Edward A. Sutton
Edward A "Skip" Sutton, 84 of Palm City, FL passed away on Saturday December 21, 2013 at Martin Medical Center, Stuart. Born and raised in White Plains, NY, he raised his family there until retiring with Pat to Harbour Ridge, Palm City, Florida. He had graduated from the New Hampton School and Nichols College and had also attended e Dartmouth College.
He served his country during the Korean War as a medic in the Air Force. He then joined his father Glenn W (founder) and brother at Sutton Publishing Co. serving as Vice President for 35 years. Edward was a lifetime member of the Rotary Club and White Plains Volunteer fire department. He was a director of the Home Savings Bank. He was a member of Westchester CC and Westchester Hills Golf Club where he served as President. He was a member of Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club, Palm City
For 70 years Skip summered on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. He was a member and on the Board of Director of the Governors Island Club where he enjoyed many hours of fishing and boating. As an avid golfer he was a member of Bald Peak CC and Laconia CC.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Palm City and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, White Plains.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Patricia "Pat", son Edward A Jr (Meg) of White Plains, NY, daughters, Sally Brereton (George)of Mahopac, NY and Cathleen of NH and MA, 5 grandsons and 1 great grandson several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn W. Sr. and Marion, his Brother Glenn W Jr, his wife Rita and niece Suzanne.
Masses of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and later at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in White Plains followed by military honors provided by the US Air Force. Inurnment will be in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
In lieu of flowers the family asked a donation be made in Skip's memory to the charity of your choice.
