Palm City

Obituary

Elaine Whelan Cook of Palm City, FL passed away peacefully on March 23, 2020 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL.

Elaine grew up in New York City working in the theater and modeling industry with Ford Modeling Agency.  While working, Elaine earned her college degree from Hunter College.  She met her husband, Howard T Cook on a blind date and they were happily married for 68 short years until Howard's passing in 2017.  She had a passion for education, traveling, art and a constant thirst for learning.  Elaine loved books and often read as many as five a week.  She took great pride in being current on styles, fashions and trends.

Elaine married Howard Cook and they raised three boys.   She also lived in New Jersey, Hershey, PA and retired in Palm City Florida at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club where they lived and enjoyed 28 years before moving to Sandhill Cove.  During retirement they enjoyed the country club lifestyle and filled their time with golf, bridge as well as making wonderful friends they cherished.  They shared a passion for travel and cruised the world.  Giving back to her community was a priority for Elaine and she did this with both her time and resources to many organizations within Palm City and Stuart.  Howard and Elaine were the epitome of a life well lived.

Elaine is survived by her sons Howard Cook and his wife Barbara of Coral Springs FL, and Michael Cook and his wife Holly of Palm City FL.  Her grandchildren Christine Cook, Danny Cook and his wife Adriana, Danny Anderson and his wife Erin, and her great grandchildren Catalina, Juliana, Lucas and Logan Cook and Hadley and Hayden Anderson.  She was preceded in death by son Curtis James Cook.

In consideration of the current social climate, Memorial Mass is private.

A celebration of life in loving memory will be held for Elaine in the near future.
